So this weekend was the shot for that movie in Ocean City (ok, technically Fenwick Island, but Fenwick Island would be part of Ocean City if there were no state borders). My call wasn't until Saturday at 5PM, which was great because I got to deal with Saturday afternoon traffic instead of Friday evening traffic, which probably would have been many times worse. As it was, it took a little over 4 hours, so it is a good thing I left at noon.
They set up stuff while I got into my room and changed into wardrobe, which was beige slacks, black t-shirt and tropical shirt that was off white with different-colored leaves and such. We filmed my three scenes pretty quickly, which is me as the hotel clerk interacting with the guests. Since the real-life motel lady had cats, the director thought a good introductory shoot would be me holding a cat and petting and talking to her, so the audience isn't sure if I'm crazy or not. It worked out pretty well, and the cat was very friendly/tolerant, which helped.
After I was done, I went to my room to be out of the way while they filmed other scenes, and waited for the call for dinner, which finally came at 9:45. So I drove on down to the restaurant, which they were going to film a scene in after they closed. And the producer made me eat to much food.
The next morning I went to the beach to stick my feet in the water at least (I was not going to drive all the way to OC and _not_ touch the ocean), while they were filming some of the beach scenes. After a couple tries I actually went all the way in the water, although it was very cold. I was going to leave as soon as I got dried out (since all my scenes had been shot yesterday), but the producer caught me and said that they were going to break for lunch soon, so I might as well stay. Twist my arm, why don't you? Eventually I got out of there and managed to get back home at a decent hour.
This movie was a lot of fun to make, and everyone was really cool to work with. Hopefully they should have it edited and so forth by end of November/early December.
Some milestones with this production:
1) This is the farthest I've had to travel to a film's location. By almost 100 miles.
2) First time I got paid to speak in a movie. Yes, it was a stipend, and it was given to us with gas compensation in mind, but it was cash, so I will call it "pay."
3) First time a production paid for my motel room. Of course, this was the first time I traveled far enough that lodging would be needed, but theoretically they could have sent me home at 7PM when I was done shooting.
