i just got down to reading my cousin's blog. and in the many paragraphs of the many entries i went through, i realised how little i knew of isobel now, when we'd grown up together and were once close as sisters. at the same time, reading the same blog, i discovered so much about her and her life then i'd ever did through the few conversations that we'd had over the last few years.
sometimes, virtual reality doesn't create distance and de-sensitize human interaction. sometimes, it makes you aware of the distance already present between individuals and, in a strange, voyeuristic way, brings you closer to someone than it'd have been possible in real life.
