determination of starting a fire

I sit here right now grinding my thumb on a lighter
turning the little wheel
creating flash after flash of tiny sparks
and tiny streams of smoke
but as I keep spinning the wheel
I wonder why no flame has been struck
so I sit here spinning the wheel
creating sparkling flash after flash
and still wondering why I have not yet made a flame
untill I realize that my lighter has no fluid left inside of it
every last drop had been burned away and cast to the wind
and no matter how many sparks I let fly
no flame would ever grace me from this lighter
but I do wonder if the slightest drop were left in the lighter
would I be able to create that flame?
even if only for a moment could I create that tiny intensity
so I spin the wheel again, sparking the fire that would not burn
sparking again and again, pushing the limits of both my little lighter and my sore thumb untill finally....
I realize that I should go get my lighter refilled
