It has been a tough year for well loved influential men I know through RenFaire. Earlier this year we lost Dave Ponkey, the beloved storyteller, and then Don Brown, aka the Mullah of Mullah's coffees and teas. I have been friends with both, and even worked for Don Brown for years. Both Dave and Don died after suffering over a year of fighting from various illnesses. It looks like we will be adding another friend to the ranks, and this one is much more sudden.
Jerry Josephs had a stroke on Thursday night, and has basically been in a coma since. I will not go into details because I don't know many and would rather not give misinformation. What I have been told is that he has had two CAT-scans, both which have revealed little to no brain activity. His famiy has decided it would be best to take him off life support tonight at 10. Last night I went with Will, and several others, including most of the rest of the band members (
The Naughty Minstrels), to see him in the ICU at Marin General. I know I was not the only one who had been holding up well until I walked into that room.
Here he is testing out the photo-booth set-up he put together for our wedding back on May 2, 2009. We already miss you Jerry!
ETA: Jerry Josephs passed away at 10 PM on Wednesday night after life support was removed. The prognosis was that he had an aneurism, and nothing could have been done.
