Rating: G
Pairing: Onew/Minho
Summary:
Minho’s insecurities landed him a date to the movies for the first time with Jinki.
(Kind of inspired by the picture of onho with friends outside the movie theatre? though it has nothing to do with it until the ending. The rest are just…onho. But that’s the most important thing right? please also forgive the awkward phrasings describing the hugs and kisses orz )

Jinki was focusing on his mobile games on the sofa when he felt a dip in the cushion beside him followed by something lying on his shoulders, or more specifically, someone’s head. From the corner of his eyes Jinki spied a mop of brown hair, the head rested comfortably against his shoulders, with hands wrapped around Jinki’s waist. The leader playfully blew at the mop of hair before leaning his cheeks again the other’s head and continuing with his game, unaffected otherwise.

Until the person tightened his hold on Jinki’s waist.

Jinki stiffened, realizing that something must be wrong, and immediately switched off his phone to give his complete attention to the person beside him.

‘Minho-ah, what’s the matter?’ Jinki softly asked as he turned and wrapped his arms around the other in a protective embrace.

The living room remained silent except for the sounds of breathing from the two occupants.

Jinki began to softly hum ‘In your eyes’ to fill in the silence. Despite how much Minho had seem to open up to everyone, he still takes some time to speak up when he’s emotionally vulnerable.

‘Am I good enough hyung?’ The muffled reply that came from Minho a long while later was so soft that Jinki would have thought that he had imagined it; if not for the tickling sensation of breath he had felt against his skin. However before Jinki could reply, Minho continued, ‘Have I progressed from 5 years ago, hyung?’ Jinki kissed the top of Minho’s head and replied, ‘of course, Minho-ah. You’ve improved the most among us.’

Minho rubbed his head against the leader’s chest in disagreement. ‘I think you’ve progressed the most hyung, you’re shining so brightly now. If not, it is Taemin, he is good in every single thing now. But I’m still the same. I’m like a vase in our group. Only good for the looks but I have no talent. No matter how much effort I put in for everything, I still can’t do them well. I’m losing to everyone in everything.’ Minho’s voice cracked slightly as he tried to hold back his tears while speaking.

Jinki felt his heart clenched painfully in empathy at the younger’s confession. He rubbed Minho’s back in an attempt to comfort before responding, ‘Minho-ah, you’re looking at everything wrongly. Remember how we used to sit together before pre-debut talking about what we want to show the world? You have done most of it, honey. People recognise your athletic talent; they are viewing you as you when you play soccer, not you as the son of a well-known soccer coach now. People from many places across the world love you. Always remember the placards the fans do for you every single concert and the effort they spent on you. They know you are worth it and they do see the effort you put in for every performance. Also, you can dance very well now, don’t forget that we won the best male dance group award together, this proves that we are all good dancers. ” Midway through his speech, Jinki felt his clothes getting damp but he continued speaking while stroking the tallest boy’s head lovingly.

“But my voice is only meant for rapping. If my voice was higher perhaps I would have been able to take Jonghyun-hyung’s parts as well. If I have a unique voice like yours or Key’s, I would…” “If your voice is higher, I would not be able to harmonise with you like now. I love how your deep voice harmonises so perfectly with my tenor voice, we complement each other so perfectly as we sing. And I love how you whisper ‘SHINee’s back’ every time with so much passion and sexiness that it sends shivers down my neck and energises me to perform our songs with everything I have.” Jinki interrupted Minho half way.

Jinki paused and pulled back from the embrace to look at Minho clearly in the eyes. “You’re as much as a good singer as I am. Your voice is unique to you; I can easily pick out your voice from every single track we sing together. The effort you put in train your voice shows through, you are having more lines now Minho-ah.” Smiling softly at the brunette, Jinki wiped the traces of tears on Minho’s face gently with his thumb before kissing the lips that are redden from the younger’s attempt to bite back his sobs.

Jinki then continued speaking with his lips almost touching the former’s, “But what truly matters is that you have progressed against your younger self; not against others. You’ve ‘won’ against your younger self from 5 years ago. You’ve come so much further than what everyone had thought was possible. And the most precious thing is that despite all the improvement, you remain the same humble and soft-hearted Minho who did not let fame get to his head. Your personality remained as before even with our increasing popularity, and that is what I treasure the most.” Minho’s eyes brimmed with tears which slide down his cheeks as he closed his eyes and leaned forward to lock Jinki’s lips in a deep kiss. The eldest closed his eyes as well and simply allowed himself to enjoy this precious moment, lost in the emotions and love for the other.

After a while of lying in each other’s embrace, Jinki shuffled around to stand up and tugged at Minho’s hand to move. Minho, in his confusion, followed blindly as the leader brought him to the bedroom. The red-hair boy then pulled out some clothes from the closet and threw them at Minho before turning to smile brightly at the other and announce that they are going to catch a movie together. Minho continued staring at Jinki, still in a trance over the sudden decision, especially after how Jinki had repeatedly rejected his offers previously.

Growing impatient, Jinki pulled Minho into the bathroom with him while commenting that despite Minho’s confidence in his looks, no one would think he is good-looking with snot and tear-marks all over his face.

Two hours later, two friends of Jinki were shocked to see him outside the movie theatre since Jinki had always politely declined their offers to catch movies together. They quickly rushed up to him and took a picture before realising that Minho was behind him and decided to take one with the other idol as well.
“Today is our lucky day!” One of the friends said as he was uploading the pictures to the internet.
