I'm Not Like Them, But I Can ... Pretend?

Went to Sue's potluck. She loves having all of us girls who were in her Pathfinder unit over to eat when she comes back to visit her parents. This happens about once a year or once every year and a half, so it's a nice sort of reunion. This year there was Shorty, Amanda, Dawn and James, Sandie and myself (along with a multitude of Sue's kin). I have to say, I felt really out of place. All the other girls either have children or have guys they are A) married to [Dawn] or B) practically engaged to [Shorty]. Had Cassie shown up, she would have fallen under the engaged category. I'm the weird one of the group. No kids, no fiancee/husband, no desire for either. :P

I was exhausted by it all, even if I did get to spend time with my Gabby. I was shocked to learn that Amanda is moving to Orlando come July. I may only see Gabby once more before they move! I find that really really sad, moreso than I can express. I think that if I was ever going to have a baby, I'd want her to look just like Gabby, who's now 18 months old.

I think I'm just going to sit by my Christmas tree, watching the lights and listening to David Benoit's "Carol of the Bells" for a while. Maybe that'll fit.
