"Errbody Gettin' Tipsy on V-Day"

Feb 14, 2005 14:49

Well, well, well...such a lovely date.

Phbbbbt.

Ok, let's get real. This is the day of the year all single people hate and most couples aren't all that fond of either. Today is a day of obligation, not love. :P You feel pressed to get something for your significant other, and today just happens to be the traditional day...so instead of buying chocolates or flowers or just saying "Love ya" whenever you feel like it, you store up for today and make a big shebang out of it...and hopefully life is all roses and sunshine for a day.

Meaaaaanwhile, those of us that don't have "significant others" just kinda go through the day. We look at it as a)the worst day of the year, b)just another day or c)an excuse for getting drunk and high (that last one refers to some of my hallmates or acquaintances :P). But seriously, if somehow we could all just feel satisfied by the cards from our friends... because that's what we do as friends since none of us have bfs/gfs, we make cards for one another. The "at least you know I love you" sort of good wishes. But we all know that deep down inside we want someone to share the traditional "love of the day" with. Not like I have a ton of money, but it would have been cool to have someone to buy flowers for...even cooler to have someone to receive flowers from! %_% (I'm a big flower person...truthfully, my V-day would always be made if someone I love just gave me one solitary rose).

*Grins suddenly* Yeah, we're all bitter. I'm sure the academy is having it's V-day drama today, since SA banquet was yesterday for them. You'd think that kind of thing would disappear when you hit college...but no. Tisn't the case. So no, here I sit, sickly and having missed two classes today because I decided venturing out in the freezing rain and cold wouldn't do anything to help my illness and writing bitterly about my lack of love-receiving on the most celebrated day of love of the year.

Thank goodness for friends. Kate, Henry, Phil and Jen all made me V-day cards. Jefe and I didn't make any (I was at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra yesterday afternoon when they were making them), but I've given them all hugs and told them how much they mean to me. I can't imagine how I'd have gotten this far through college without my hallmates.

Meanwhile, I just finished talking to Jeffykins for a bit. It's good know that he's going to be bitching to his guy friends about V-day down there at the same time I'm bitching to my girl friends up here. XD Actually, I think the majority of my friends aren't doing much for V-day. Shorty told me yesterday that her, Allison and Miesoo are boycotting V-day, and Beth isn't with Herbie anymore so that's one less couple to be all lovey-dovey. As far as I know, Ben and James don't have girls... that means the only couple I can think of that will assuredly be doing something sweet for Valentines Day is Dan and Christina...and they're gonna get married after our undergraduate years anyways...if not, the sky will fall in and it will be Armegeddon. :P

Alright, I'm done for now. I need to go pay a bill and ... do some Spanish? Yeah, probably, since I'm planning on hanging with my girls tonight..."all night long...allll night". (<--That's the time where you really want the MSN messenger music note command to be part of LJ... some moments just call for that little symbol.)

I'm gone.

My funny Valentine
Sweet, comic Valentine
You made me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable
Un-photographable
Yet you're my favorite work of art
Is your figure less than Greek?
Is your mouth a little weak?
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?
But don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay, little Valentine, stay
Each day is Valentines Day

(Yeah, yeah, Frank. Whatever.)
