Writer's Block: What Makes Your Friendship Work?

Jun 10, 2008 18:56

I like people who make an effort to say hi and give me a smile. what other qualities do my firends have? What is the quality that lets you call a person when you are at your worst? You know she isn't going to cut you short or start avoidiing you. You can trust her with a secret, or a foolish comment made at the height of emotion. And she's vunerable with you, too. H loves Jesus. She's able to talk about her Christianity in a very natural way, it's totally integrated into her life. She is also compassionate. When I'm hurting she stops what she's doing and shares the moment. A still respects me even though she's seen me n some unflattering circumstances. She is generous with her time. A is also generous with her time. Offering to help me out in a unique way. She's easy to talk to, easy to keep a conversation going back and forth. But it's not a superficial conversation, either. That's something they all share. The ability to have a meaningful conversation about ourselves. Not pretentious. Not perfect.
