It's been a productive and relatively fun weekend, too. Yesterday we picked out and reserved a tux at the rental place. Allen came to help. Then we got brunch at Slappy Cakes -- a place we'd never tried before that specializes in letting you make your own pancakes on a grill in the middle of the table. The batter was delicious (especially the whole grain vegan one), and they had a wide variety of toppings. My only beef was that I think our grill was broken, as it took a long time to cook our pancakes, and the ones on one side of the grill took twice as long. I'd go again, but not on a day with the hour long wait we had.

I also finally got poor Silver towed. In spite of his new battery, he won't start, so it's time to get him over to a garage for a look. I got a real deal from Speed's Towing -- only $60 (20% discount to take it to their garage) in spite of the enormous effort of getting it out of the garage when their smallest truck wouldn't fit. It made me sad to see Silver in that condition, but I'm holding out hope that he can be fixed for cheap. Cross your fingers!

In the evening we did a limited-time traveling mini-golf event, which was definitely a lot of fun and worth doing once. It was an "adults-only" event, meaning that they served beer and wine, and the winner got a free beer. I don't even know how the final score came out, but I enjoyed it. Afterward we got drinks at Tea Zone before heading home for a relatively early night.

Today has been spent doing piles and piles of chores, all put off from last week because I was too busy working. I've promised myself that if I get a promotion we'll hire someone to do it instead, and Allen even sent me a very enticing brochure that was sent to his house for just that. According to Melvin, Jeff will tell us our Focal results next week, so with luck this could be the last time I have to do this!

Julien's busy going nuts in the kitchen. We enjoyed his preserved lemons so much that he made another jar, and tried preserving artichokes as well. He also made candied ginger, which I find a bit too strong. Maybe I can talk him into doing more candied orange
