I am now the proud owner of a t-shirt that reads "MY MARXIST FEMINIST DIALECTIC BRINGS ALL THE BOYS TO THE YARD." I almost got the one that said "IS IT SOLIPSISTIC IN HERE, OR IS IT JUST ME?" but finally decided against it.

...Of course, my father doesn't wear t-shirts, but my point stands.

Maurice Sendak came out yesterday, at the age of eighty. First off, I am really, really awed by Sendak's bravery. He is one of my favorite writers and artists ever.

What has me thinking the most, though, is one of the reasons he kept his sexual orientation a secret for so long:
