Once a week, in prep for our story meeting, I do a whip-around of all the smaller regional papers (better reporters would do this more often than once a week; if it happens on Monday, I'll never know). Since I still have nothing to write about of a more personal nature, I thought I'd share my enjoyment of this paragraph from an article about poinsettias:
The plant, usually not thought of except during the Yule season, could be labeled an invasive species since it is not native to the United States; but it is a benign invader since it must be grown indoors and does not cover everything in sight like kudzu.
Kudzu, always the bottom line down here.
Oh, and since I did manage to finish the first season of Battlestar Galactica last night, my new favorite phrase ever is:
Bitch took my ride.
Veronica, my partner in obsession tried to convince her work-neighbors that their entry into the office decorate-your-desk contest should be "A Very Galactica Christmas" ... Don't know how that would exactly work with their crazy Lords of Cobal religious thing, but due to a lack of muscle-bound blondes in their near vicinity, I was apparently volunteered for a guest appearance as Starbuck. I love that girl.
