Starbucks Corp., which built a coffee empire on its premium image, wants to convince customers that its drinks aren't that expensive. The company said Monday that it's selling discounted pairings of coffee and breakfast food for $3.95, a type of promotion long used at fast-food chains. It's the first move in an aggressive campaign to counter the widespread perception that Starbucks is the home of the $4 cup of coffee.

Under Starbucks's new $3.95 promotion, customers can get their choice of:
*12 oz. latte with oatmeal
*12 oz. latte with a coffee cake
*12 oz. brewed coffee with a choice of breakfast sandwich or roll
* Bacon sandwich with parmesan egg frittata and Gouda cheese.
* Ham sandwich made with three slices of black forest ham, parmesan egg frittata and mild cheddar.
* Sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on an English muffin
* Reduced-fat turkey bacon breakfast sandwich
