Do I really need to say that
a. last entry was not referring to specific people and totally excluded everyone I love or care about? As in, it's not about that?
b. I really suck. I mean, I suck at sports, I suck at fixing stuff, I suck at math, I suck at putting names and dates and places together, thus, I suck at history, etc... So believe me, arrogance isn't what I was going for. Just the fact that *yay* there's something I don't suck at! Good Lord...
c. For anyone who has had a really great life experience outside their home, coming back is... weird and somewhat unpleasant sometimes. I love the city of Seattle... It's beautiful and interesting and it, yes, is home to me, in a lot of ways. But the way life is here [USA], the commercialism, the superficiality gets me... That no one is allowed to have time for their friends unless they hack away at their schedule to make it... That stress causes seventeen-year-olds to go grey and cut their arms and pull out their hair, which, of course, happens everywhere, but this is a fucking epidemic, I think. It's just like... I don't like the way life is lived in this country. I don't like the fact that nothing is sacred, everything is up for grabs, going of course, to the highest bidder. You can't get anywhere walking. Everyone can sue anyone for anything and win. No one takes responsibility. No one takes the blame. They treat the young like we're stupid, they treat the adults like they're kids, putting "warning: cup is hot" on coffee mugs, not letting us drink 'til after we can marry, after we can legally die for our country and buy porn. So many elderly are allowed to go deeper and deeper into senility alone in their retirement homes. Are you happy with this? Is anyone really happy with this? I guess... I just felt so much more alive in Croatia. I drive around, in my car, and I don't have a choice if I want to get around on time. What more can I say? I can't put into words exactly what Croatia and so many other places have that America doesn't, but it's something, something big and something significant...
Okay, now someone's most likely going to try to turn this all around, saying something along the lines of "well, don't they have that in Croatia too?" and yes, this stuff exists everywhere, but it sure doesn't take as much prevalence, in my opinion.
See, *this* is why livejournal doesn't do it for me anymore...
