Recently I have been trying to develop some glazes which work in a Cone 6, oxidation firing. It's the only stoneware or porcelain I can fire at home. Since I quit teaching, I don't have access to the really cool Cone 10, reduction glazes or firings at Chaistain.
Some of the glazes crazed some (the little crackle appearence you may have seen intentionally done on some pottery). I tried some macro-crystalline glazes, which didn't come out really that good. Don't think they form significant crystals on the stoneware I was using. The clay is high in alumina and it will interfere with crystal formation.

Radagast97 A couple of steins from a recent firing/glaze test. I threw 12 of these after seeing the last few minutes of Return of the Kings - they had some great looking Ale Steins.

Jeez, I'm glad I never had a job test like this!
