View from the bottom of the gravity well

I've been trying not to turn this blog into a diary. I guess it's partly because I've never kept a diary and because it would never be interesting enough to hold my attention, much less the poor souls who were foolish enough to have me in their friends list.

On the otherhand, it's not exactly a collection of high art and writing.

About three months ago I mentioned WW and I seemed to have formed some type of easy accord at the dojo. A type of friendship, of sorts. Or so I thought. She informed me we weren't friends, and in my interpretation, she was only acting like that because of appearances. She's never been one who like people knowing we weren't friends. I just don't do 'appearance'. I am what I am. It was pretty depressing for a while. Now we only speak when there is dojo business or something required as part of working out. I wouldn't wish to be friends if she doesn't want it, but she will have to deal with people knowing. It comes with the territory. I'm not going out of my way to tell anyone, nor keep it a secret.

Another note of depressing news is Jenn and Sharr's breakup has soured and they are avoiding each other. I am sorry for them, but understand.

Three weeks ago I twisted my 'good' knee and have been off the mat. The break from being around WW has been a nice side effect.

SM has virtually stopped coming to the dojo. I've heard through the grapevine he's feeling shunned. I suspect it's more in his head than real. Guilt really, since few at the dojo have any idea what kind of a shit he was to WW at their breakup. He has a very selfish streak that came out big time. We reap what we sow.

I was able to throw some during the holidays. Spotted some cool steins in Lord of the Rings so decided to make some. I just have to find some glaze recipes which work in electric-kiln stoneware firing range and fit the clay I use. Damn I miss teaching. Reduction firing, FREE firing, and really beautiful, tested glazes.

Nothing much has changed as far as finding someone(s) special.

During the holidays the office was dead - nothing at all going on. I got to listen to EscapePod quite a bit. I've gone back and heard about two-thirds of the podcasts by now. It has a lot of great stories.

My youngest turned 21 yesterday. She has found a girlfriend. They make a cute couple.

I did get two gifts I was hoping for (which is pretty unusual all by itself). The first three seasons of B5 and a digital camera. Now I can have all the fun of taking pictures without the expense of actually developing them!
