Holy shat! Talk about being put through the ringer... I just got back from my in-person interview finally after being in contact with this company for almost a month now. And damn... 5 different people interrogated me with all kinds of phycological and profile revealing tests. They asked me questions like "if there was a situation where there was nothing you could do, what would you do?" and shisnit like that. When all the "tests" were done I pondered "is the ink blot next?" HAHA... After all that I was intuduced to a couple dozen employes and then finally I was shown into the security enforced server room. I got to learn about their system they use for keeping track of various hardware and cabinets in locations all across this great land. It was pretty neat. Its a system designed to take AutoCAD drawings and make them live and updatable from various sources. You have you original AutoCAD drawing, the Building 1 drawing, and a couple different excel documents. Which if you make a change to any of these it updates the rest accordingly. On top of that it is customer accessable so that they get a live report of status, future expansion, and current construction at all times. What sucks about the job is that I won't be doing alot of drawing really. Well that's not exactly what this position is. It's more of just working with blocks and implementing them into the system. Then you give reports on what can and can't happen in certain facilities. However they do need someone capable of transfering hard documents to CAD... which is what I dig, and they want to make everything 3D but no one there can really do it efficiently. All they know is basic 2D AutoCAD commands. I gave my cheif interrogator some pointers on 3D drawing when he showed me what he's done in the past. They made the impression that they want to move everything to 3D... They think 3D drawings, I think 3D walkthroughs in a game fashion. HAHA...
Anywyas after all that nonsense Mr. Dudie took me out to lunch (FREE FOOD!!!!) and B.S.ed with me for a while. He's a pretty cool guy... but he works too damn much. He works for this company full time... and I mean FULL TIME and works a part time job as a police officer in St. Louis. Fucking hell man... After the food and the chat we strolled back to the office where he showed me a couple more things and said he had to talk to the HR lady. When it was all said and done with I called the employment guy that found me originally and he said that it sounds like I had a job. "They NEVER take people out to lunch man. Looks to me that you need to go home and get ready for work..." But I'll find out later today or tomorrow or whenever if my charm worked or not. So now I'm off to take care of some other important buisness...
