On Thursday John helped me put some heel lift pads onto a shoe via rivets, nails, and a screwdriver to put onto Sams front left foot. For the first time since I've known him, he has the same looking pasturn angles! Thank god! Then yesterday Kathy came out and did body work on both him and Moyntain and Sam is looking superb today when I worked him in Merry's round pen. He was lazy on the line, as he is accustomed to being, so I got after him quite a bit, but man was his body looking great. Kathy did quite a bit of work on Moyntains left side. His left hind hock flared up about two weeks ago after we were jumping from when he injured it in January. He had been looking fine for months so I was pretty disappointed about that. When Kathy worked on him she said she thought he had strained his achilles and just tore a little at the edges where it attached to the hock, but she didn't think the hock itself had been the source of the injury. She saw no indication of a restriction of motion from it. So she worked on it for a while and had to work out adhesions from his left rib cage where he had been compensating for the leg injury. She recommended I continue to work him on gentle terrain in gentle rhythms. That's mostly all I want to be doing with him (well, that and jumping!) anyway at this point in his learning so it's all good. Tomorrow I'm going to work Sam again in the morning and hope that he's a bit calmer while tacking up and a bit more energized while working, lol.
I talked on the phone with Harroun for a while this morning and that was nice. Apparently Brandon, Angela and their two girls moved to Portland recently. She said they're happy, the kids are adorable and that it was fun seeing them so that's wonderful to hear.
I went to the Dr's in Flagstaff yesterday because my uterus area has been feeling increasingly weird for like 3 weeks and it woke me up for a few hours friday night. Because I was worried about what is going on I went yesterday. I got an exam and he said he didn't see any indication of a problem so it may very well be an ovarian cyst I am dealing with. I already have a scheduled appointment with my regular doctor tomorrow in Prescott to have an ultrasound so I am going to do that then.
I just ate spaghetti with sauce for lunch and made a salad with Merry's garden lettuce and low calorie Ceasar dressing. The lettuce was bitter and I didn't like the dressing but the spaghetti was great. For some reason my body still feels hungry! I'm going to Kristen and Nicks for dinner tonight. Tomorrow I have to go back into Flag before I head home in the afternoon to get a flat tire patched from my horse trailer.
I look forward to getting back into a working program with my horses. Now that their bodies are getting all figured out and strong and balanced. I've been working out on Merry's Elliptical machine and weight machine and it is really good for me. I've been spending a couple hours in the morning laying out by the pond/stream and reading books which has also been great. It's lovely being here, I look forward to coming back at the end of the month for a week. I've been going in the jacuzzi at night to sooth my muscles too. Mmm....
Logan, Josie, Jules and the wombbaby are probably moving up to Indian Rocks headquarters this coming month which would give us the Mule Shoe headquarters to ourselves. I like them living on the property too so it's not like I'm eager for them to go. I am, however, eager for all their hound dogs to move! It'll be realllllly nice to have some peace and quiet around there. It will also be nice to be able to put the horses in whatever corrals we wish and have a little bit of privacy to run around naked when the mood strikes :) Joel's excited because we will be able to run our own cows and steers and bring in more income and really get a start on our cow herd, beginning to expand into having our own ranch and few hundred or thousand head of cattle. I'm looking forward to seeing him again after being up here since Thursday
