Today Joel & Reidhead and Me & Sam gathered about 50 head out of Holder to the Junction Corrals.
There was a newborn calf who was left back in some bushes. I tried to push it to go with the cattle but it wouldn't listen. The little booger was more inclined to run under my horses legs then listen to my direction so I just went on so that Sam wouldn't kick him. He followed me as I left almost all the way in to the holdup. But not quite. He got tired and hot and layed down in some oak brush.
I went on to hold up and once Joel and I got everything penned we went back to get him. Joel made a little harness for the guy and led him like a puppy back to his mother.
We left the two of them back (with about 25 head that we have not yet gathered) so he could drink and get more strength before the couple mile journey where we were headed.
It was pretty easy trailing, the cattle were mellow and it was hot but they stayed on the move. We sorted out one of the neighbors bulls that we loaded in trailer and took over to their place. Overall, a good day :)
