I know English is a famously difficult language for the non-native speaker to master. But for those for whom it's a first language...well, "Thank you" should not be a foreign phrase

Truly. I always try to remember to thank people for stuff like that. But you're right. I've driven out to the college on days I was not scheduled to work in order to help my students and I seldom get "thank yous" for that. Unless it's my ESL students. They are always more polite than my American students are.
