Emerald City ComiCon was awesome. David Pirkola, a comics retailer, was robbed and shot in his own store. Like many folks in the comics industry, David doesn't have health insurance. Unlike most folks in the comics industry, he's currently in the hospital in stable but critical condition. GIVE HIM YOUR MONEY.

This story breaks my heart and fills me with hope at the same time. No one EVER should have to go through what that little girl went through. That she had the strength and self-worth at eight years old to seek justice on her own is phenomenal. What a hero!

Comics creator Dave Stevens died yesterday, following a long struggle with leukemia. Although I didn't know him personally, he was a good friend of many of the people I work with; he was a phenomenal artist and, by all accounts, a pretty incredible guy.
