Y: The Last Word
Today, I got a package from a letterer friend that included a couple copies of the last issue of Y: The Last Man. And while I'd already seen an uncolored proof, it was still a hell of a thrill to see my lettering (or title design, if you're being picky) on the last page of one of my favorite series.
The issue itself was really, really solid. I am all sorts of picky about good endings - there are few more things more frustrating than a great story with an ending that doesn't live up to the standards set by the preceding material. This one does. It's beautiful and sad and quirky and a bit wonderous and all-around right. Good stuff. And dig that smooth lettering!
