No, I am not ok with that.

I recently read on the blog of my friend that she took her 2.5-year-old son to see Indiana Jones.  During the evening show.  She mentioned that he never did remember to whisper.

Well, y'all, I couldn't sit by and not tell my friend that I thought that was RUDE.  Small children at evening movies are a personal pet peeve of mine.  They are too unpredictable with their behavior and the movies cost too much for me to hear your little precious one's running commentary on the film.  I'm sorry, but there is Kung Fu Panda that they can go see, or you are welcome to take them to the matinee at 1:00, when I think taking smaller kids to more adult movies is OK.

She responded that she didn't appreciate being fussed at and that no one shot them any dirty looks so she didn't think he bothered anyone, and you have to "keep living" when you have kids.  But that's what making compromises is about:  You keep living by making the compromise to go to an earlier film time if you can't get a sitter for the night, so you are less likely to disturb ME who doesn't want to hear someone - ANYONE - talking during the film that I just paid $10.00 to see.

She also mentioned that she's been in a theater with worse behaved adults.  Well, I wasn't saying they deserved a free pass for their age!  But you have to assume that a child with a short attention span and an earlier bedtime is going to get tired faster of a movie than say, me.

I'm sorry, but this practice is NOT OK WITH ME.  When I went to see Ray, the movie was practically RUINED by a couple who brought their newborn and 2-year-old to the 7:00showing of an R-Rated movie.  That is just tacky and unacceptable.  They wouldn't leave when the kid got fussy and actually were angry with the rest of us for voicing our displeasure at their presence.  Bitch, please.  All I know about you is that you and your kids are rude and you ruined my expensive experience.

Speaking of ratings, "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is rated PG-13.  Her church dictates she can't see an R-rated movie, so the next step down she'll take her 2.5-year-old to see????

People with the kids:  Enjoy the movies.  But please stick to children's films or early screenings for the more adult films.  Kids under a certain age have no business at the 7:00 showing of the latest action adventure, romantic comedy, or horror film.

Thanks!
