I now know why I never, ever, went to camp when I was younger..because camp is not cut out for me. This weekend, though in general was fun..it was also hell..and I'm so glad that it's over and I'm home...able to sleep in my own bed.
We were in Oconomawak, Wisconsin at Olin Sang Rubi jewish camp. Most of the kids were well behaved..but there was a large portion that wouldn't listen no matter what we said to them.
I was one of the counselors since there were no high school girls that were able to go on the trip. There were 4 high school boys (Josh, Jordy, Max, and Aaron)that stayed with the boys in their cabins..but as far as the girls went, I was the "young" counselor..and then there was an adult.
I have to say, I think I really connected with my girls..at least it felt that way throughout the weekend. They were coming to me asking for help with talent show activities, they were wanting to walk with me, play games with me..etc..it felt nice. I was really glad that I was able to spend time with them..and hopefully I was able to put some good things into their minds. They are all sweet girls (even if they do like to giggle when its' time for bed..) and I did have a blast with them.
The weekend had it's highs and it's lows..and it really wasn't horrible..I just got barely any sleep, and am still exhausted from it today..but overall..it was a good experience. I am glad that I went..and I think that I've made some really cool friends :).
