I finally got my new crocs today! So yeah, the whole "plastic" clog thing does make your feet a little sweaty, especially since these are closed-toes, but they really are SO comfy! I'm glad I'll have comfortable shoes to wear to ASM next week. I'm still sad though that I haven't gotten my program yet. OR any postcards to get freebies when we get there. SAD!
I read the most hypocritical article today on cnn.com. Apparently South Carolina wants to alter their concealed weapons law so that people could carry them onto school grounds (elementary through college). And why might you ask...TO PREVENT FUTURE SCHOOL SHOOTINGS?!?! Does this make absolutely no sense to anyone besides myself? *shakes head*
Today I learned how to make media, autoclave it, and pour and store plates. I also compiled all of the dodder vine images I've taken all week and sent some to the guy working with those. Some of them turned out pretty good if I do say so myself! I know I'll have to do more though as these ones are a lot darker than I thought they were. Ah well...
So get this. I'm upstains in the micro lab pouring plates when an alumni stops in to see TR (since today starts alumni weekend). Not only was see a micro major but she was a DELTA ZETA as well! How awesome! I feel bad cuz I already don't remember her name (mary beth or mary ann) but I know that she graduated in '02. That means that the seniors my freshman year would have been sophomores when she graduated. That made my afternoon.
I'm really excited about this weekend. Tonight I'm going to Bob's house to get a good off-campus meal and spend the night in his huge comfy bed. Tomorrow is our church's prayer drive-thru. Our choir director came up with the idea. We put up signs all along the road in both directions to advertise and the whole premise is that anyone can stop for any reason and we will pray with them. I hope there's a good turn-out (and that the weather is ok). I'm really excited because we're getting our youth group involved as well to help "direct traffic", so my brother and his friend Michael will be there as well. Tomorrow night is holding the duty phone and hanging around Delaware to get ready for ASM (laundry, last minute pick-ups at Wal-mart, etc.). We leave Sunday afternoon and it should be a TON of fun! I'm so excited!
So grades this semester were ok. All As and Bs, which isn't too bad. I was worried because all three of my hard classes were borderline at the end of the semester: Cell and molec and Bac phys were C+/B- and dev bio was B+/A-. Well, I ended up getting the lower in dev bio but pulled both of the other ones up (which is what was more important anyways). So I'm fairly happy with it. I know I'll have to fight for my scholarship again though, which sucks, but you do what you have to do.
