A couple causes of note to keep us on our path - this is all good news, so enjoy. :D
the next time someone tells you that petitions and letters don't work
ColourofChange.org gets multiple advertisers to pull their sponsorship of The Glenn Beck show, after the FOX News host called President Obama a 'racist'. Colour of Change organized over 100,000 supporters on the issue, causing sponsers like BestBuy, Travelocity and Walmart(!!??) to pull their ads from Beck's show.
more information about what and how it went down.
Yes yes, I know it 'won't make a difference' for FOX and they'll keep being well, FOX; but it's really inspiring to know that grassroots protests can be heard and taken action by megacorporations, amirite?

the next time someone tells you that white sells (therefore we shouldn't attack producers)
Bloomsbury has replaced Justine Larbalestier's book cover Liar after she
discusses it on her blog and it then got disseminated through the online newsblogs. The book has a black protagonist, but the publisher originally saw fit to use a white girl for the front cover of the book, under the conviction that young adult-genre book covers depicting black people are too 'political' and do not sell to YA consumers. After the (unwanted) publicity, Bloomsbury
changed the cover image.
The choice of model may still be problematic; but given that Larbalestier wasn't expecting any change, I consider this a win.
Keep on spreading the word, mes amis.
