I had a great weekend hangin out with Anna and the assorted band of Bloomington. I have class till noon on Friday now, so I didn’t arrive till after 7pm IN time. Her brother Stephen was visiting and had made some wonderful pizza. We ended up heading down to Kirkwood, grabbing some drinks at SOMA and playing a game of Catan.
Saturday we studied at Wells for a little while. I tried to grade some more papers, a task that seems to be escaping me this semester. Then, we headed over to the B-ton art fair to look at all the horribly overpriced, and in a lot of cases, horrible work. I know I am a no taste art snob, I’ll admit it, but 99% of the wares just made me laugh. I know that B-ton is a hippy area surrounded by the Midwest, so there is a strange mix of customers the artists are trying to sell to. Is this why they make mushroom statues and strange looking glass fish? There were a few things I liked: A woman made framed 3D art by knitting yarn. A man had huge glass sun catchers that were so big there would probably get broken on the ride home and cost between 1,000 and 3,000 dollars.
We ate at my favorite Thai place and I tried the green curry. I thought it was excellent. I have been getting the red for a while now, but it might have just been kicked off its throne. The service was horrible. There were only two waitresses working and the owner kept screaming at them and then smiling like everything was perfectly under control. I gave my tip directly to our waitress wondering if the owner made them turn out their pockets before sending them home every night.
The night ended at Kristin’s apartment, where another game of Catan, Slamwich, and Mad Gabs ensued. I really want to get the 5-6 player expansion so we can bring in some other players and have a bigger island.
Sunday, we took Stephen halfway home and his mom met us for a drop off. Then we hung out and watched a hilariously bad MST3K episode called Overdrawn at the Memory Bank. The movie commentary was wonderful, but the movie and the MST3K bi comedy was really bad-singing was involved.
Overall, I had a wonderful weekend and now I am back at C-dale prolonging the time I get off the couch, shower and dress, and head to school.
