Just popping in quickly to say I'm not dead. Not yet, anyway. >_<;; No writing getting done at the moment; since no one is selling firewood this year, I had to go out and buy a chain saw last week and have been cutting my own. It'll be a while before I'm back; last year I went through about 7 1/2 cord (most of it in about two weeks that were @#%%^$%& cold) so I want to have at least that much cut before it gets cold. Colder, anyway. So that's what I'm up to.
In other news, if you're Canadian, please go to
THIS SITE and sign the petition/send the letter. The gov't is trying to sneak in a copyright reform that would make it illegal to make backups of things you already own, or do *gasp* horrible things like *oh, noes!* tape something off the tv to watch later. I do not support piracy in any way, but I do believe I should have the right to make a backup (1 copy for personal use only) of something that I paid for.
Please, please, please go to the site above and send emails/letters to the gov't, and let others know about it; its deadline is apparently Sept. 13th. They even have a convenient form letter all ready to send, and they send hard copies to Ottawa for you, too. Like I said, I don't support piracy, but I do support fair-use. The legislation that they want to bring in will not benefit anyone; not the companies that make the (whatever), not the consumer.
I, for one, am tired of being screwed over. That is all.
