Skipped some chapters of life there, haha. Well. I'm happy, been done with school for a while, and I teach now in a city different from my hometown, which gives rise to a whole lotta fun. :)
Sometimes, it seems like there's nothing in the world I love more than my students! (Don't worry friends. You were first. XD And you're the standard of all the affection I lavish on them haha.)
To celebrate the first post (of many, I hope), a poem. Inspired by my students. :)
Your name is a whisper
Your name is a whisper with bright promise in it
A sweet-sung note in the silence of my thoughts
Your face holds a future that has not bloomed yet.
In you, I can see what you are and what you can be.
You, though not mine, are my hope and my dream.
Your name I dare whisper, and sense promise in it.
But you, you are blind to the greatness of your soul
Or you stay in idle sleep, forever dreaming, not doing
Your hands hold a future that has not bloomed yet.
You’re not ready? You fear difficulty? Don’t, and be assured:
You have a sure companion, though she hangs on slim belief:
Your name, when whispered, has a bright promise in it.
Know that so much depends on your here and your now
Dare to start on that quest, dare to scale that rugged peak
Your heart has a future; you will make it bloom yet.
And I? I will pray that you answer this call
To make real all the potential I can see in your eyes.
Your name is a whisper, with bright promise in it
Your face holds a future that has not bloomed yet.
