hogmanay approaches!!
as usual i may have gotten a little carried away with preparations for my new years eve party...i just finished making pastry for the mini mince pies and mini apple & caramel pies that i will put together tomorrow...the filling is ready, the pastry is chilling! i made millionaires shortbread, and regular shortbread too...i also made marzipan for my fruit cake, and it turned out REALLY well! i am so surprised at how easy it was. of course BUYING almond flour instead of trying to grind almonds made the whole thing a lot quicker. so yeah, i am also making cranberry and goat cheese turnovers, but i think thats the end of the cooking. i have chips and dips and crackers and cheeses and booze galore. now all thats left is some tidying up and i need to buy ice and fresh bread tomorrow, cause no, i am NOT gonna spend tomorrow baking bread, tomorrow is for relaxing (well after i clean up!). i need to go and bring my laundry in. and then i will watch some more netflix...currently going through spaced (again), so happy to get my internet back after 2 days offline!
the new job is going well, its busy but i am settling in, and i have started to make some changes which should help us function more efficiently as a department. this party will be another odd mingling of people i know from all my various jobs and pass-times, i love that my friends all tend to like each other, makes socialising easy!
edited to add: i completely forgot all the peanut butter cups and truffles that i made...my fridge is PACKED right now!
