Internet working

Well, long story short. The Time Warner guy showed up and pulled a magical other modem out of his truck and made the internet work better. Although the ping times are through the roof now that the new modem has been installed. I don't think this fixes the inherited problems with our line it just has an on-board queuing of packets built into the modem. The modem I had when it was up was getting pings of 42 MS to google.com whereas the new modem that was installed gives me pings of 98 to 105 MS to google.com . I think all it has done is made up for the natural problem with the line and just has a system for ensuring normal packet loss through the line reaches its destination by making sure all packets are sent and received before it sends any more data incoming or going. I noticed this with a ping test when I shot a ping google.com -t it always had a hiccup in the same spot every single time and I am willing to bet that this is an open negotiation with the server on google's side and the side of the modem. Nice.... It hadn't fixed the problem but merely given us a band-aid to cover up the wound they are trying to heal but don't have the proper medicine for. Whatever, I don't care as long as the service provides as little packet loss as humanly possible.

Nothing much else going on in my life. Got level 65 with my Rogue on Lightbringer. Other than that I have just been working to pay off my usual debts. I think my tax return might help me cut about a month off of what I have set as my goal to be out of debt. I am getting somewhere along the area of about 1000 dollars back from the government and state combined. I am curious to know when I might have enough money to pay a down payment on a Prius and I haven't had to sit down and plan that out first. I just gotta get out of debt first before I plan that. Once I am past this barrier I should be alright. Alrighty back to work.

Later,
R-Tug
