I was heading down to the store to pick up some odds n' ends this evening. As I was heading down the hill and turning a corner I heard a loud noise, as if something large and metallic had hit the ground.
When I came around the corner this is what I saw:
From what I could see one car had been overturned while a cab had taken damage to the front. I could see fluids leaking from the cab. I couldn't tell if there was still people inside either vehicle.
There was a third car, a police car to the side of them, I thought it had responded to the accident (kinda quick eh?), but upon further inspection, it had been hit as well, with damage to the front (not as much as the cab though) and I could see the airbag had deployed.
Within a few moments more police came and that was followed by fire engines and eventually an ambulance.
When I came back (they had started to try and clear people away, and I had walked down to go to the store in the first place) about 10min later the response teams were still working on the situation and I think the people in the accident had been tended to/removed from the cars.
Later on News12 they said an eyewitness said the cop car had run a red light (responding to a call elsewhere?), and that six people were injured.
Of course the real scary thing, for me is.... had I headed out just a few moments sooner I would have been crossing the street and possibly been in the area where the police car wound up. o_O
