Sooo tired. . .

I'm just about ready to go face my fears and get Lasic eye surgery because glasses ain't working and contacts ain't working. Being blind (as in legally blind without corrective lenses) really sucks big time. Ok, I'll admit, it's only been about 4 days since I started wearing contacts again, but oh my god did they kill today. I felt as if someone threw sand in my eyes and it was scraping at my corneas. I'm sure more than one nerdy engineer thought I was winking at him as I walked squinting down the hallways. Eeek.

Anyway, on the bright side, I'm not giving up my search for comfortable contacts. Tonight, I'm going to the optomotrist again and get fitted for a brand new lens that just came out on Monday which is supposedly mostly liquid and so very comfortable on the eyes. Fingers crossed!

Other than my little eye drama, life has been going along at a pretty average pace. Just learned from dad that my aunt Carol (who I've never mentioned until now) was caught by her probation officer drinking--which violates her probation. She's been an alcoholic for many years and last summer was caught by the cops drinking and driving. She'd been out after booze, blacked out at the wheel and smashed into some parked cars. THANK GOD no one was hurt. It was tooo close for comfort, though. She went to jail and supposedly wised up. She was supposed to go to counseling, AA, and some other treatment program as well as do community service, but she quit everything but the counseling claiming she's had the flu and couldn't go. Hmm. . .she was able to get her ass out of the house to buy booze, though! I know, I know, I'm not sounding very sympathetic to her plight, but sometimes it can be very hard to be sympathetic in this kind of situation. It's a real up and down experience with alcoholism. What they say is true--it does affect not only the drinker but *everyone* around her!

I do have a favor to ask. If you're reading this LJ, can you please pray for my aunt--or, if praying isn't your thing to do, at least send good vibes her way? I'm a big believer in the power of positive thinking (you'd never guess it from this LJ entry, but it's true!). It would really mean a lot.
