I think what I like about this the most is that no one comes in to save the day. I like reading it from Luke's POV and how he's handling (or not) the apocalypse. Since it is really just him and Rani and Clyde and Mr. Smith, it feels smaller, even though we know it's a worldwide phenomena. I like the slow build of the romance too.
One of my premises when I set out to write this was that no one would be saving the day. I guess I was intrigued by the "romance in a post apocalyptic world" thing.
. . . okay, so I have actually never watched The Sarah Jane Adventures despite wanting/fully intending to ever since I first heard about it. Before reading this I pretty much knew nothing about it aside from there is Sarah Jane, a robot dog, a talking computer, and a teenage boy.
Now you have guaranteed that whenever I finally see it, I will never, ever be able to interpret these three as anything but dating. X:
