Truckie's fine. They had to flush the transmission fluid and replace the gas filter, but other than that, everything's fine. I'm assuming it was the transmission fluid (or lack thereof) that was making the odd squeaking noises 'cause the truck isn't squeaking anymore. And it accelerates like it used to now instead of being all sluggish.
Cost a bit more than I was expecting, though. Ugh. Still, I know they do a good job, so I guess I'm paying for peace of mind. And a free trip to and from the shop (though this time I drug River along as my temporary chauffer).

So yep, I'm actually getting some stuff done before the semester starts: I took my truck in today, I get a haircut tomorrow, and I have a dentist appointment in February. Now I just need to find an optometrist.

I just discovered that for the experimental AGN class, everyone taking the class for credit has to give at least one lecture. Ick. A talk I'm okay with. A lecture? Fifty minutes? Yeah, not so much.
Oh! That's the phrase I was thinking about, River! The one you use a lot that I've picked up on: "not so much." Hahaha. Wondered when I'd figure that out....
Anyway, one of the topics is gamma ray astronomy, which I worked on for about two years in undergrad and still remember quite a bit about it. Maybe I can just do that lecture. At least the technical bits won't be hard--I saw enough presentations on the working of air Cherenkov arrays in undergrad to make me puke. :P

Oh, and I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my mail yesterday and discovered not only a card/letter from one of my high school teachers that I keep in touch with, but also the BSG Season 2 soundtrack and the miniseries had arrived. Woo! So far, I don't think the Season 1 soundtrack has even shipped yet, despite that they said it was in stock when I bought it. Hmm.... *narrows eyes at Google*
