Ah well, some more wasted day and vain tears.
Ive been on the anime.....
Haibane Renmei for comfort....ive been on the Old Home bulletin board reading a 32 page thread....lots of insight into many things....thread is "Serial Experiments Haibane" and i was attracted because i just completed 13 episides of Serial Expriments Lain, the character design was by Yoshitoshi ABe who was the creator of HR. Plus the speculation on the web, sorry Wired that Rakka was Lain, and Reki an unfortunate seen by Lain goin' under a train in ep3. Probably bosh. But SEL is a mind mangler. The art is fantastic in many senses of the word...you have for instance a flat white screen on which you see a door open and someone descend steps only visible by virtue of incredibly sharp shadows....scenes of wirescapes accompanied by the monotone hum of power transformers....Lain says little and her face doesnt change overmuch.....
Perhaps Texnolaize would have been better as a followup. I shall get it...in a while, I've a lot of unseen stuff to catch up on. Kino's Journey on the way from EBay....
Theres always the early part of Haibane Remnei to cheer me...the halo, the wings (thats some scream!) But the whole halo business leading to the Revelation about Rakkas ring... Oh, Hikari how could you???
Its powerful, it wrenches at your heart and it insists on repeated viewings.
Which reminds me, currently looking at "Welcome to the NHK" about the possible curing of a Hikkokomori (sp?) who is in denial. Oh lord we know folk like this...seen him go to the Holy Land (so much like the Forbidden Planet store!) and spend cash he almost certainly hasn't got on figurines and games...the poor sap is obsessed with a cutie from a game, and hes accompanied by a nerd he knew in school (who at least isn't a hermit almost)....
Funny. 26 eps, I've watched 5 so far....
Ah well must away and do SOMETHING.
Went out with a pair of college pals yesterday, had a nice meal followed by a walk along a footpath by Brocket Hall....
I dont know whats wrong with me, why I feel so melancholy. Lifes not so bad and I think I can manage. Just dont feel like the monday to friday treadmill.
I have the three Haibane Renmei soundtracks (not obsessed no) Hanenone (Sound of Feathers LOL) Blue Flow and an image album which translates as saintly aspirations....played them in the car over and over until they are almost subliminal to me....
Great music...
Played a Music Hall disc Wednesday that I've had 20 years...sounded as new....
