You've come a long way, baby

Heh. I was cleaning out a cubby on my desk this morning and found a scrap of paper where I had jotted down my food intake for that day to keep track of it.

For any of you who may have thought that I just had great will power or that this lifestyle shift I'm working on has been easy for me, take a gander at my intake on a day back in January, a mere 7 or 8 months ago. (I'm fairly certain this is pre-lunch, or I may have skipped lunch that day. I would have still had dinner after going home, though.)

1 medium apple (about 60 cal)
(actually, it's closer to 80)
3 oz cheese
(and that's 250-345 cal depending on the type of cheese!)
2 bowls cereal
(most likely Special K Red Berries, but most likely MORE than 2 servings - so another 280-400 cal)
2 290-cal brownies
(as I recall each package had 2 servings in it - That blasted vending machine called to me! whispering "CHOC-late!" They weren't even that good!)
1 170-cal cookie
(Gah. On top of the brownies? *shakes head*)
6 oz orange juice (70 cal)

So, there it is, not even my total intake for the day and I'm already at 1,450-1,625 calories, and almost PURE sugar-based carbs! Not a veggie or a whole grain in sight.

Compare that to my intake for yesterday:

1 scrambled egg with bell peppers, onions, and parsley - 115 cal, 4 carbs, 7 g fat, 7 g protein

Homemade smoothie with 1 large orange, 1.5 cups frozen mixed berries, and a tablespoon of vegan rice protein powder - 274 cal, 55 carbs, 1 g fat, 13 g protein

4 slices of my homemade, good-for-you, veggie pizza on whole wheat crust - 555 cal, 94 carbs, 14 g fat, 22 g protein

1 Stuffed Mexican Pepper (bell pepper with brown rice, tomato, kidney bean, navy bean, and corn filling) - 446 cal, 80 carbs, 8 g fat, 19 g protein

1.75 cups seedless red grapes - 189 cal, 47 carbs, 2 g fat, 2 g protein

TOTAL for Tuesday: 1,589 calories, 280 carbs (and that includes 48 grams of fiber), 32 grams fat, 65 grams protein

Now that is a TON of food, but it's also all very, very good for me, and I was pleasently full and satisfied pretty much all day long - from 6:30am until after 11pm (and I stop eating by 7:30 at night now - or try to). Whenever I felt a little, - well, not hungry, but felt like I wanted to eat something, you know - if it wasn't time for a meal, I'd just go get a handful or two of grapes and drink a couple glasses of water.

In related news - I lost another two pounds this week!

That makes my August loss total more than 5 pounds! (2.27 kilos for my metric flisters!)

Visual representation? Sure!

!!!

Ha ha. Joke.

More seriously - here's an image representing what 5 pounds of human fat looks like.

That was in my body! Ewwww!

But it's gone now! And more to follow!

Also, I've just found out my family's group YMCA membership doesn't cover me anymore. So I'm thinking of switching gyms. Has anyone had any experience with Curves, LA Weight Loss Center, or Madomoiselles?
