I forgot to mention this on your earlier post but......

YAY YOU!!!!

Congrats on losing the weight, may this be only the start for wonderfulness for you!

My next objective is to get a pedometer, so I can monitor my incidental exercise and walking. Dude, I have one of those things and I wore it to work a couple of times. I was walking nearly 20km a day. Freaked me out.

Ok, I was trying to quote there, but it didn't work. HTML tags hate me.

I usually just do italics. (I stick with the tags I know!)

Thanks!

WHOA! No wonder you're exhausted at the end of the day!

No way do I walk that much. But I have been trying to add other steps in. For instance, unless I'm in a time crunch or really have to go, I make myself climb a couple flights of stairs to use the bathrooms on another floor.

That was back in the day of doing split shifts where I was running a buffet. Back and forth, for 10 hours a day. It was really good for me, because I hate exercise. Love the concept, hate the action.

Yeah, I can't wait until I've lost enough weight that I can really start doing other activities that don't count as traditional "exercise" - Yoga, dancing, etc.

Why can't you do them now?

I can't do anything high impact because of my knee, and I can't do yoga because of general sublexation. Swimming is excellent. Love the swimming!

Well, I'm 90 pounds overweight, out of shape, and prone to shin splints. I want to avoid any kind of impact activity for those reasons.

I love swimming, too! But I don't have access to a private pool and I am still too self-concious about how I look in a bathing suit. If I need a change of pace, I may join a women's only gym so I'll feel better about it.

Trust me, I was way nervous about the public pool/swimsuit thing, but I can almost guarantee not only will there be someone worse off than you, but no one really cares. Everyone is just into their own workout. But I totally understand the self-conscious factor.

And yay you on losing weight! I appear to be holding steady, but I also haven't been great at following the diet. I snuck a few pieces of pizza, and I drink way too much coffee. At least I'm not gaining weight. If I start doing that, I'll definitely re-dedicate myself to the diet. And I need a lot more exercise.

Yeah, I know it is my own hangup.
(But that's all changing! Another size drop - or two - and I think I will join a women-only gym for the pool access.)

Stick with your diet. Losing the weight is actually a secondary point. Eating correctly does so much more for you then that. You will feel so much better!

Ah. Very good reasons. Sorry for being so....( Iwant to say probing, but so very, very dirty)..nosy?

I haven't gone swimming in ages. I feel very naughty. Flymara and I used to go together, which was cool. My parent's have a pool but I didn't use it once all last summer. I thought about joining the women's gym near work because it offered discounts for casino people, but I was too lazy. I had waaaaay too much physio the year before, I feel I am still recovering from that. Yucky gyms.

No worries. I started this livejournal with the intent to be perfectly open and honest about my weight. (Besides, I'm a journalism major, "nosy" doesn't bother me one bit!)

Last time I went swimming, except for an occasional hot tub/above ground pool dib, was on my cruise two years ago. I miss it. That will definitely be one of the areas of activity I branch out into. (Swimming, although I'd LOVE for cruising to become a regular activity also!)

Yeah, I hate most gyms. My "alma mater" just finished a new health center that supposedly is very nice. Former students get discounts, so I may check it out.
