What is this wrld coming 2?
Today I went to a seminar for work (basically it was "So You Have a Website...What Do You Do Now?" about increasing traffic and usership.)
As I was waiting around for it to start I sent my mom (who is also my boss, for those of you who don't know I work for her non-profit) a text about some stuff.
Her response included a number 4 in place of the word "for" and ended with the following:
"...Ur amazing. And i love u!"
My mother.
The woman who is almost solely responsible for my becoming a grammar nazi. And for my uncontrollable and
automatic proof reading of ALL written matter that meets my eye. (And the mental anguish and gnashing of teeth persistent and public errors cause me.)
The woman I have discussions with re: the grammatical inappropriateness of the phrasing "10 items or less" at grocery stores and who bemoans every Christmas card or letter we get addressed to "The (Family Name)-Apostrophe-S"
The woman who only learned what a "blog" and a "podcast" were in the last year or so - and still isn't always accurate in using those terms.
THAT woman...actually used "Ur" for "You are"
I replied with: "I can't believe YOU, of all people, use tech-speak!"
Her response?
"Ov cors. W/e. G2g. ttyl ily rotfl"
