It really does seem like a ton of things died this year. I don't understand why the execs are so impatient and they have too high standards. Like you can never maintain all the people watching tv at one time. Be happy with being 2nd or 3rd behind AI. Who cares? People suck. I miss Standoff.

Shows don't last all that long anymore, either.

I mean it used to be shows like M*A*S*H and the Cosby Show and Bonanza and I Love Lucy and Little House in the Prairie and things like that ran for years and years and years.

Nowadays, three-to-five years is considered a good run, I think.

I actually feel like I'm a bit better off at the end of this season than I was last year. Last year the only thing I was really into was Veronica Mars and my enjoyment there was on the wane. Now I'm much more invested in Doctor Who and The Office. I've got Dexter and Heroes. I've found Skins. I almost feel it's been a good year for TV.

Well, yes. I definitely have more shows I am in love with/deeply invested in this year than last year (two of those being Heroes and Doctor Who - which, PBS is starting to air S1 and tonight was "The Empty Child" Yay! Captain Jack! Boo! Creepy, creepy kid!)

It's just the turnover seems more and more extreme. Not to mention all the reality shows that crop up. We won't even go there.

I know! Of course, I didn't watch it, but as I was typing this I was like "The OC - was that this year or last year? This year? Really? Wait, what about The West Wing? How long has that been gone?"
