Confessions of a Couch Potato

The whole end of the season / Finale Week era got me thinking, and...

Fandom is certainly a slippery slope, my friends.

Raligh’s Journey to the Darkside:

Circa-1985 I can recall occasionally watching Mr. Rogers and/or reruns of Lassie in the afternoons. This was pretty much the extent of my (very-limited) childhood television viewing experience ( Read more... )

my tv, fandom, my shows, supernatural, addiction, fangirl-y, i watch too much blahblahbleebloo, heroes, psych, dr. who

So many comments...

1) Wow. Yeah. That kinda screams "fangirl" doesn't it? Heh. I added you. I'm raligh123 on both Yahoo and AIM

2) Ooo, you're an old-school Who-fan! Neat. I, clearly, am not. In fact I'd never seen any Who at all until ...sometime during Spring Break of this year. - So, who's your personal favorite/"real" Doctor?

3) Well, it's not that I'm not yet watching S3 BECAUSE of Rose. (Frankly, I didn't even really LIKE Rose for quite some time) I was just trying to think out WHY exactly I've been quite alright at an indefinite delay in starting S3, when I am so obsessed and absorbed the first bit so incredibly quickly. I'm still not really sure.

4) Something you should know about me: Not a 'shipper. That's not to say that I don't 'ship, but as a rule, I'm generally fine with relationships as portrayed on screen. Don't need to read between the lines and try to create something more out of it. At least, not in THAT way. This pretty much applies to all shows, even a few with a canon 'ship.

5) I agree, there are a fair amount of really good shows about. And seem to be cropping up more and more. (This would be part of the reason I've more than TRIPLED my "obsessed fangirl" level shows in the past 3-12 months *sigh*)

6) Another thing to know about me? I ramble. A lot. Hope it isn't too annoying. Feel free to tune me out or ignore.

7) Oh, FARSCAPE. i.e. the show that taught me not only can 'shipping be fun, it can be done well and unforced IN canon and can also be really, really HOT. (I've actually only seen the first 2.5 or so seasons. Something I'm working on correcting.)

1) Yeeeaaah... I made it when I was just going to use it to talk to the co-mods for loveathons and now. *hides under something fluffy* Anyway, I added you and am online now.

2) "Real" Doctor? I'm not one of those who feels the old is anymore real than the new, but my favorite doctor of all time is #7. Which is apparently not a common thing in the general fandom. Despite following the show since I was... eleven? I was never involved in it's online fandom or even fanzines or anything. At this point, I still get most of my DW fandom info from kammgirl, though I have posted a bit over at TWoP.

3) Are you looking forward to watching season three? So the reluctance is more like putting off a yummy desert and coffee because then you know there will be time between the next bit of deliciousness and the rest? Or are you afraid it will let you down somewhat?

4) Not a shipper, got it. I am a shipper but I generally don't go mad with off canon relationships. I really enjoyed writing fanfic for Veronica and Logan back in the days. But like, John and Aeryn are probably my favorite pairing and I can't write for them ever.

5) I love good shows. *hugs them*

6) I have that tendency myself.

7) Oh good! As long as you know how awesome it is.
