picspammy o1. She’s a chipmunk
I laugh like a chipmunk. I used to, in high school, whenever I laughed, I sounded like a machine gun. And my friends used to duck under the tables at McDonald’s where we’d go for lunch, every time I laughed. So for about four years, I didn’t laugh out loud, I just sort of did this *mimes laughing* Which, you know, after a while got really stupid looking.

o2. Puff and ruffle and being demure time
Teryl and I do this, ‘puff and ruffle’ notice.
o3. She’s one half of ‘Turleen and Minnie’ [she’s Minnie]
Amanda: Teryl and I - we're idiots, we're both goofs. We're both very spazzy and we both have these really wacky senses of humour. As soon as we met and realized that Teryl was going to become a regular character on the show, the one thing that was important was that our characters were friends and not rivals.
Teryl: These two women are very strong. very smart and very together women. And yet of camera we're a bunch of idiots. We have, like, alter-ego characters where she's Minnie and *southern accent [**]* I'm Turleen and we go to the Marbelle beauty school and we do this whole thing all the time.
Teryl: *It's Turleen and Minnie!*
Amanda: *I think Turleen's speciality is frostin' tips and mine is permanents.* And we've just got this whole wacky character thing that we do.
Teryl: *I fail permanents all the time.*
Amanda: *Your speciality was frostin' tips and mine was permanents.*
Teryl: *Oh that's very true. I fail permanents all the time.*
Amanda: *I fail frostin' tips. She's excellent at frostin' tips.*
Teryl: *We go to the Marbelle beauty school.*
o4. She is Samantha Carter . . . now and forever
I’ll never turn my back on my Stargate family. Absolutely. You can’t be that embedded in a show and it’s that much of a cherished experience for me that I could never turn away from it. “I’m so over Stargate.” I could never say that.
o5. She knows what she’s talking about
My best Bible for that is Stephen Hawking's 'A brief history of time' which I refer to all the time... there was a number given to me in an episode about the number of people that would die in a specific explosion. So I came up with this massively elaborate mathematical equation - P was the number of people over R squared, Thirty equals Pi equals this. So I went running up to the producers and went, "WRONG!" And they were like, "????" and I said, "Ok, P equals of number of people over R squared equals this over and you times it by a thousand which is the number lalalalahblahbah" and I went through this and they sat there going "?????????" and I went, "So it's actually one four five seven. And they were like, "Ok, honey, just change it on the day." Maybe I've been on the show too long.
o6. She gets a lot of work done . . . eventually
…being thrown around on a gimble, and writing Stargate: Atlantis - The Musical. Those kinds of memories are priceless. That for me was a huge highlight
o7. She’s like a sister to everyone
o8. She’s Stargate Barbie!

Ok. I’m Stargate Barbie and we’re dead!
o9. Director Extraordinaire
feel I would love to direct again -- I like the scope of a job like that. I like the scope of producing, too -- going into the office and sitting down with the guys and sort of looking at the overall picture. It’s like having a big wide angle lens on the entire show. I love that. The directing for me is very much the same: You get to take your vision and put it out into every single department, and then put all the pieces together. It’s like putting together a massive puzzle, and so I hope to get the opportunity to do that again.
10. Executive Producer: Amanda Tapping
I never wanted the Executive Producer credit to be a vanity credit. I wanted very much to be a part of running the show, so here I am!
11. She is Helen Magnus
She is sexy, savvy and unapologetic. She doesn’t suffer fools, and she can see when people aren’t being honest with her. She’s an incredibly fun character to play because a single look from Helen Magnus can bring somebody down, so it’s quite fun in that regard. I don’t have that, but it’s great fun to put on her shoes. | I love a show where the lead is a woman, and one of the other leads is an amazingly strong woman. The back story is amazing to me, the history between Magnus and Druitt, the history that she’s lived. She’s an awesome character, I absolutely love her…She’s so cool - she’s so not like me. The challenge as an actress is so cool.
12. She fangirls her own show
so I can get hyper-passionate just talking about Helen . . . We all pore over the computer and squeal like small children
13. She can be deliciously evil and look sexy at the same time;
Replicater [SG-1: New Order | Gemini | The Reckoning], Helen Magnus [Sanctuary: Requiem].
14. She suits short and long hair; how many people can say they can do that?
15. She’s gorgeous blonde or brunette
AT: I'm going to keep it blonde right now because I'm shooting Atlantis in a week and a half, and then I'm going to dye it dark. It's kind of scary.
GW: Nervous?
AT: I am nervous, and I'll tell you why, very stupidly because I won't look like Olivia. I look in the mirror right now and she touches my hair. "Mummy, mummy," we look alike. We look a lot alike. And if I dye my hair dark I'm afraid people will go "Who's kid is that?" I know, that sounds kind of hokey, but that's really the only reason why I don't want to go dark.
GW: Well, have you ever had dark hair before?
AT: Not as dark as Magnus, no.
GW: OK. Wow. That will be an interesting change for you. Maybe you'll love it!
AT: Maybe I will! Maybe I will.
GW: And then maybe Olivia will go "Who the heck is that?"
AT: You know what I do every now and again, is, I put on the wig and just walk around, and she just laughs at me.
GW: It's the face, it's not the hair.
AT: "You like mummy like this?" "No! Hahaha."
16. The boobs
17. She looks sexy with a gun
18. She looks amazing in black!
19. She’s a dork. She’s very funny.
20. She stretches out curly wurlies: and gets in the Guinness book of World Records!
21. She loves Coronation Street and Catherine Tate
22. Martin Wood is her bff!
23. She has theatre roots
”There is no naquadah in a vagina.” She said during the rehearsal she totally corpsed on stage and had to get her notes. So when she had to perform it the first day she thought about making a run for the exit before she had to go on stage and she actually did go blank BUT the second day when her mother-in-law was in the audience she nailed it. cnnjunky: at3 report.
24. She has super shiny co-stars
25. She sometimes cries
26. She is really cool at conventions
She takes pics at conventions too
I walked out on stage and the fans went crazy and I was like, "Huh? For me?" I was looking around to see who else had walked on stage.
27. She has the most adorable little girl; Olivia B. Kovacs
Gateworld [GW]: How is Olivia and how is motherhood treating you?
Amanda Tapping [AT]: I love it. Olivia's fantastic. She's 8 months old now. Got teeth, and I'm still breastfeeding so, "Ow." Still figuring that one out. But no, she's amazing. She's a really content baby. A joyful little spirit. Not a colicky baby. Not fussy. She's really happy. I'm very, very lucky. I'm not sleeping through the night. Other than that she's fantastic.
GW: Does she take a lot of tending to? Does she cry a lot? Do you find yourself up several times a night instead of just a couple?
AT: She's teething and she wants comfort and -- yeah. But she doesn't cry. She wakes up and lets you know she's awake. [She] does a little "Waah, waah, make sure you get up." And because the house we're living in right now is very small, she's in our room with us. It's not like you can pretend you can't hear her.
GW: Right. Well, I hear her now!
AT: Yeah, there she is! She's reading "The Hungry Caterpillar."
GW: That's a good book!
AT: Yeah. No, she's great.

The best quote ever from my child is, "Mama, everyone has to have a plan." and I said, "You know what Olivia, you're right. What's your plan?" and she said, "Sanctuary." Three and a half. And I went, “What? You know, that’s mommy’s new show” “Uh-huh.” So, that’s my three and a half year old’s stamp of approval.
