Fair enough.

We went to two fairs this weekend; the Therapy Focus Sunny the Sunflower Fair (they do in school therapy for Curls and this was a fun day out for children of all abilities.) and the Sun Fair at UWA, a fair promoting sustainability and solar energy.

We took Spike's best friend, E, with us. E, growing up a bit now, is much less feral than he was two years ago and it is touching to see how the friendship continues to hold strong.

The Sunny fair was nice; in Hyde Park and accessible for every child - the range of intellectual and physical abilites was wide. We went there mainly for Curls and he had a great time petting the farm animals, making giant soap bubbles, bouncing on the bouncy castle and persuading the woman at the art tent to stay open longer so that he could paint. He also got up on stage when the compere invited people to do so and helped to draw the raffle.

The art tent was an organisation that arranges creative arts lessons for kids with disabilities and their siblings. They are committed to providing respite care on weekends and we think we might have found just the place for both Curls and Spike to go on a weekend (they do a Saturday class in Fremantle.)

The Sun Fair was also nice; low key. The kids were all excited by the Remida-style funky junk stall. $1 to help yourself to whatever junk you wanted and then create whatever you wanted. After that we took them for a run at Matilda Bay (to think that a courting X and self used to go there and pash of a lunchtime; now we watch the kids and hope they don't drown or get attacked by swans...). E and Spike had a kung fu fight and Curls dug a hole in the sand which he buried his head in before digging himself out - has to be seen to be believed and not something that I'll be encouraging in future.

Kids were tired and biddable this evening which is exactly how it should be!
