Perpetually Long-Lost Friend
There's someone out there who made me believe
That not everything happens for a reason.
I only seem to find her once a year,
And it feels inevitable, like the change of season.

There's a word I hate to use,
My friends know what it's done to me,
But it fits our friendship so well.
We will always meet again, eventually.

The world works in mysterious ways,
Some of these, we can never explain.
I don't know what it is, but
Something tells me we'll meet again.

The one problem we always had,
Was not being able to keep in touch,
But I'll never forget the day I fell down,
And she was there to be my crutch.

If I told you I never thought about her,
I'd have to call myself a liar.
Without the match she provided me,
There'd never be this poetic fire.

One of the best feelings in life
Is being able to find a long-lost friend,
But, every time I find her,
She immediately gets lost again.

I'll occasionally reach out to her,
But my hand can only go so far.
It seems she's always groping around in the dark,
And when she finds my hand, it feels so bizarre.
