V-Day shows off how weird I can get...yet again
Leap of Fate?
This is the start of something new for me,
The countdown to the next Valentine’s Day.
I sit alone every year around this time
And I never really know what to say.
Normally the countdown starts at 365,
But this time it’s at 366.
It seems like all I’ll get from that extra day
Is another list of problems I can’t fix.
If you’ve known me for a while, you know
That ending up alone is my worst fear.
I’m always coming up short finding a Valentine,
But I can’t take a lifetime of thinking “just wait until next year”.
Today’s not the day to start my search,
I’ll only see happy couples everywhere.
I know I’m not the only one alone today,
So, from all of us, February 14 just isn’t fair.
For those who have someone to celebrate,
Take her out, enjoy it, have a wonderful night.
I don’t have that chance yet, but
Maybe by this time next year, I just might.
I have my doubts about the extra day,
But that might be when I take the leap.
Four years ago, it took about a month to find someone,
I hope this time I find someone I can keep.
