my first poem of the spring semester...ahh, it feels like it's been forever
Easier Said Than Done
I know I’ll meet people throughout my life,
People that I never should have met.
It’s happened before, and I’ve tried to write it away,
But that just hasn’t happened yet.
There’s at least one I’ve tried to forget,
But it’s easier to say than to do it.
I thought all this time would have been enough,
But I still haven’t worked my way through it.
Sometimes I wonder how she’s doing,
But if I attempt to contact her, it will be in vain.
As much as I still care for her, I know it’s best
If we never saw each other again.
You try your best to forget someone,
But something tells you they’ll always be there.
Just when you think they’re gone, they come back into your life,
And at these moments, your life just doesn’t seem fair.
If you say you’ll always remember me,
I hope it doesn’t have to be this way.
When you tell your kids about me,
I hope you have only good things to say.
