Nothing will stop me!!!

My mom called me and said "Adam, are you sure you still want to be a teacher?" My mind raced as to why she'd say this. Did she talk to someone who told her some horror story? What could it be? I asked "Yes of course, why do you ask?" She said "Because of the shooting? Didn't you hear about the shooting?" I replied "Oooooh! Yes, I know about it." In fact, I had been watching it on the news for two hours and making pictures for our news story and recording reports. Funny how the situation didn't phase me at all, to a degree that when she asked the question, the shooting didn't even enter my head as to why she was bringing it up.

Personally, I chalk it up to the same thing as a plane crash. If she called after a 747 crashed and asked if I still wanted to go on a trip to Brazil, I'd have wondered why she was asking. I worked here at the CBC during 9/11, and to a large degree, the CBC could be considered a target of distruction but those who seek to destroy and kill. 6 years later, nothing has happened. And nothing will happen. Just like when I become a teacher. Nothing bad will happen to me. Or at least, the chances are so slim it isn't worth thinking about or worrying about.
