Summary: While fixing Uhura's communications unit, Scotty is distracted.
Scotty had to focus. The comm system needed to be fixed, otherwise Lt. Uhura wouldn’t know Romulan from Andorian, and according to the irate officer above him, they were vastly different.
Aye, but those legs…
“Are you finished yet?” She huffed at him, and he felt guilty when she caught him staring at her. She rolled her eyes, but Scotty caught a coy smile on her lips.
He worked the finishing touches, and the console started up with an electrified purr.
“Beautiful!” Uhura cheered gratefully. Scotty’s eyes fell below her smile again.
He whistled in agreement before returning to duty.

“I wouldna drink that, lass,” Scotty slurred as Uhura sat next to him at a new alien bar.
He hiccupped and looked at the green drink plopped in front of her.
“It’s drugged, lass. They’re doin’ that to all the women here,” he whispered.
“Thank you, Lt. Commander Scott,” Uhura said gratefully, feeling sick as she glared at the drink. Then, she felt his soft hand on her shoulder.
“If there’s anna drink you wanna try, give it to me first, yeah?” Uhura’s eyes widened at his concern, and she nodded.
Uhura would have never fathomed Scotty as her protector.
