"What are these, welfare tambourines??" - Mr. Rubensky yelling at the percussion session during Hava Negillah
I was at Science all day yesterday and I sat in the band room 7th and 8th period. There's nothing like sitting in that room and listening to the Jazz Band or the Concert Band play. It's like heaven. I'm telling you, when I graduate from school I'm going to work there and if I have either of those periods free I'm going to go in there to do my work. But if I have 8th free, Rubensky's going to make me play. Just like he did yesterday. =] That's right, I was sitting there, minding my own business in the beginning of 8th, and he looks at me and goes, "Aren't you going to play?" I was like, uhhhhhh. Cause last year when I would visit Science, I played. But I haven't picked up a flute since then. I mean, a whole year! But then he was like, "What? You don't play anymore?" So I grabbed a flute, sat next to Marissa and figured it all out again. I forgot what it feels like to play music. Listening to music is great, but to play it is a whole other feeling. It's like I could fly. I really miss band class. I remember going back last year and listening to them play, and the first time I went back and heard them I was crying. I was crying. That's how much I miss it. I wasn't that good yesterday, but I never was the best and I can't sight-read for shit. At one point, Rubensky looks down at me, cause I was sitting right there, and he says, "Do you think you can play the right notes?" I mean, he was joking, but at the same time, I could tell that he was a little disappointed that I don't play anymore. So after class I photocopied the music so I can practice at home, so next time I visit I'll be prepared. The music wasn't hard, I just need to practice. And after class he was saying how I should really join some group on campus. So I'll look into that too. After all, he's Binsky! I can't disappoint him. lol.
And on a side note, here's a quote that I thought was uber-funny:
