Why am I the witness?
You know what hurts worse than being ignored? Being ignored after you've been someone. Having a group, having a place where you're loved, and then losing it. Twice. No. Five times. I've lost solid groups of friends five times in my life, some of it due to my life, some of it due to theirs.
And each time, I fall back to my default position. The Witness. The one who watches things, and records what I see. The one making the snarky comments from the sidelines and appreciating everyone else's work.
