Four Drabbles (Hikago, Detective Conan)

Sep 15, 2009 17:04

So I was going through my file and realized I forgot to post these drabbles over here. Hope y'all enjoy (and yes, I am not yet dead although I kind of wish I was...)

For viridian_magpie: Hikago, Ko Yeong-ha, dictionary

Ko Yeong-ha stared down at the Korean-Japanese dictionary which the blond Japanese professional had thrust at him, before storming off. He was surprised that Shindou had approached him, and even more curious why he would offer a dictionary of all things. Yeong-ha had no intention of learning Japanese; it was much more fun to let misunderstandings happen.

But that night, when he returned to his room, his curiosity got the better of him. He flipped through the pages, and somehow wasn't surprised to find Shindou had highlighted ever curse word in the book.

Despite his contempt of Japanese, Yeong-ha had to admit Shindou's gift would come in handy.

For thephoenixboy: Hikago, Ogata and Sai, talking past each other

When Sai first realized he was a ghost haunting Torajiro, he experimented to find out what his limitations were. There were people he wanted to talk to, other players he wanted to have look at him and not just through his friend. But no matter what he tried, he was unable to communicate with anyone aside from his host.

He learned to resign himself to the situation, although it wasn't always easy. There were times when a part of him thought, "If I can just speak loudly enough, surely they'll hear..."

But it never worked. As he played Ogata right before his disappeared forever, he wished there was some way he could speak to the blond professional. Ogata loved go, just as much as he did.

It seemed too cruel that the universe would never let them communicate face-to-face.

***

Eighty years later, young Shindou Sai finds a goban stored in the attic of his great-grandfather's house. He looks down and sees ancient marks caused by cigarettes along the edge, and realizes this is the board that the great Ogata-Kisei died upon.

When the board starts to glow, Sai can only gasp.

For ladyseishou: Hikaru no Go, Ogata and Kuwabara, Ogata's eyewear

Ogata had plenty of reason to hate Kuwabara Honinbou, but what really drove him batty was that the old geezer, despite his withered appearance, had 20-15 vision. And Kuwabara wasn't shy about pointing this out.

But what really took the cake was the events the morning of Ogata's second attempt at challenging for the old man's title. When he woke up and reached for his glasses, he discovered that his normal pair were missing. Instead, a pair of red, rhinestone encrusted frames was there - and they were his prescription.

Ogata indulged in some equally colorful language before donning the hideous spectacles. No way was he going to let the bastard psyche him out.

Ogata won the series, winning the series in a straight four matches. Amano devoted a whole sidebar about Ogata's new "lucky glasses."

For candy__chan: Detective Conan, Ran, haircut

Shinichi thought Ran should cut him some slack. He had an excuse for being jumpy; anyone who'd been stalked by a murderous organization would logically be reluctant to have someone wield sharp objects near them.

He tried not to squirm as she worked on giving him a trim. He'd only agreed because she had given him the pout, and as tiny specks of hair floated toward the ground, he closed his eyes and prayed for it to be all over.

"All done!" she finally trilled happily, before handing him a hand mirror.

Shinichi gazed in horror. The haircut she'd given him made him look exactly like Kuroba Kaitou.
